58年にわたり渋谷のカルチャーを見つめてきた西武渋谷店。その歴史のフィナーレを飾る美術画廊にて、増田セバスチャンの作品展「ENDLESS COLORS (エンドレス・カラーズ)」を開催いたします。
演劇・現代美術の世界でキャリアをスタートした増田セバスチャンは、1995年より原宿を拠点にKAWAII文化を軸とした表現を発信し、アート、ファッション、エンターテインメントの領域を横断しながら独自の表現を築いてきました。現在はニューヨークを拠点に活動し、世界各地で個展やアートプロジェクトを展開しています。
本展では、幼少期や90年代の記憶、初期衝動のエネルギーをもとに制作したシリーズ「Primal Pop」をはじめ、新作のテキスタイル作品を発表。さらに代表作「Colorful Rebellion -Seventh Nightmare-」から、「欲望」「未来」「運命」をテーマとした作品を展示し、新作から代表作まで幅広くご覧いただけます。また、日本では5年ぶりとなる作品をご購入いただける展覧会でもあります。
展覧会タイトル「ENDLESS COLORS」には、時代や場所を越えて広がり続ける色彩の可能性、そして一人ひとりが持つ終わりのない創造力への願いが込められています。

For 58 years, the Seibu Shibuya store has been a witness to Shibuya’s culture. To mark the finale of this history, we are hosting a solo exhibition by Sebastian Masuda titled “ENDLESS COLORS” at the art gallery.
Sebastian Masuda, who began his career in theater and contemporary art, has been based in Harajuku since 1995, creating works centered on “KAWAII” culture and building a unique artistic voice that transcends the boundaries of art, fashion, and entertainment. He is currently based in New York and holds solo exhibitions and art projects around the world.
This exhibition will feature the “Primal Pop” series—created from memories of his childhood and the 1990s, as well as the energy of his early creative impulses—along with new textile works. Additionally, works from his representative series “Colorful Rebellion -Seventh Nightmare-,” themed around “Desire,” “Future,” and “Destiny,” will be on display, offering visitors a broad range of pieces from new works to his signature pieces. This exhibition also marks the first time in five years that his works will be available for purchase in Japan.
The exhibition title, “ENDLESS COLORS,” embodies the endless possibilities of color that transcend time and place, as well as a hope for the boundless creativity inherent in each individual.
Held at this historic venue—Seibu Shibuya—during a significant milestone, we invite you to experience the “endless world of color” depicted by Sebastian Masuda.
