This exhibition explores the creative origins of artist Sebastian Masuda, drawing from his lifelong passion for chocolate and his confectionery box collection. The venue features walls adorned with patterns inspired by confectionery motifs and installation art utilizing Masuda’s collection—a treasure trove of memories for this avid candy box collector.
Additionally, the exhibition showcases digital originals of precious production sketches from the Japanese version of the musical “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” for which Masuda served as art director, alongside candy packaging born from past collaborations and artworks featuring sweets and chocolate motifs.
Through exhibits that stimulate the senses—awakening the pure excitement of a single chocolate in your palm, easily forgotten amidst material abundance, and igniting imagination—visitors can feel Masuda’s message: “Fantasy is the door to reality.” Starting from the motif of sweets and chocolate, this exhibition is a joyful exploration where imagination blossoms into exciting visions of the future.

企画展「増田セバスチャンのKAWAII チョコレートマジック」

アーティスト・増田セバスチャン氏が長年抱き続ける「チョコレートへの思い」と「お菓子箱コレクション」から、その創作の源を紐解いていく展覧会です。会場には展覧会初登場となる、お菓子をモチーフにした作品柄のウォールや、お菓子箱のコレクターでもある増田氏の記憶がつまったコレクションを使用したインスタレーションアートが展開されます。
また、増田氏がアートディレクションを手掛けたミュージカル「チャーリーとチョコレート工場」日本版の貴重な制作スケッチのデジタル原画や、これまでのコラボレーションで生まれたお菓子のパッケージ、お菓子やチョコレートをモチーフにしたアート作品も展示します。
物質的な豊かさの中で忘れられがちな、手のひらにあったひと粒のチョコレートにわくわくするピュアな心や、想像力を呼び覚ましてくれるような感性を刺激する展示を通して、「ファンタジーは現実の扉」という増田氏のメッセージを感じられます。お菓子・チョコレートというモチーフから始まって、空想が未来に新しいワクワクをくれるような、楽しいイメージが膨らむ企画展です。
